As the founder of Sigma Squared, I'm on a mission to help businesses save over 1,000,000 hours of labor through automation.
My journey began during my time at Bank of America, where I led a nationwide "Know Your Customer" project. The sheer scale of the project meant we had to validate thousands of customer records and track progress within a tight timeframe. That's when I discovered the power of process automation, specifically through Excel macros. While skeptical at first, I was quickly converted and began using these tools to their full potential.
I continued to hone my skills at Victoria's Secret and Abbott Nutrition, where I learned from some of the brightest minds in the industry. They taught me how to design structurally-sound models and write SQL. With new tools, it wasn’t long before I was integrating databases like Teradata and Microsoft Access with Excel and PowerPoint to fully automate my job. I eventually automated my role to the point of doing a full day of work in ten minutes or less several times each week.
My desire to push the boundaries of process automation led me to a senior portfolio analyst role at a wealth management company. It was there that I encountered a major challenge: block trading. The manual allocation of shares for dozens or hundreds of clients was an incredibly time-consuming and stressful process, often leading employees to actually cry from anxiety. I saw an opportunity to make a real impact and immediately began developing a solution. After several iterations, I succeeded in creating a tool that streamlined the process and cut hours of work down to mere minutes.
It was also during that time that I discovered my love for options trading, particularly the sigma measurement of volatility, which eventually inspired the name of my company.
These experiences led me to found Sigma Squared, with the goal of helping companies reclaim their most valuable asset: time. Our tools have already helped numerous organizations save time and money, such as a non-profit that now saves 10 hours a month, a state healthcare system that saves 20 hours a week, and a construction company that was able to eliminate a full $60,000/year headcount.
